Default air cond./heater fan display

I just picked up a 2001 Z06, all checks out, and runs well, the only issue I have is the illuminated area of the air/heat fan is out , has anyone had this happen if so whats involved to repair?

if its the entire display that is out then that is a very common problem! it was the first thing I had to fix on my C5. the problem is there are 8 resistors on the circuit board inside that unit which break loose from the board and cause the display to go to its dimmest mode all the time. if that's the case you may be able to see the display faintly at night. you can fix it by disassembling the unit and resoldering them. Its actually easy to do. search around and you'll find lots of info on this problem.

if that's not it then you may have a bad HVAC interface unit.

make sure your dimmer isn't all the way down!
