Default Which starter?

I believe my starter is dead. Which one do I want?

GM - $187 (gmpartsdirect)
Duralast - $169.99 + $10 core charge (auto zone)
Remy - $159.98 No Core(advanced auto parts)

All come with lifetime warranty besides GM I presume.

Just bought one today from my friendly Chevy dealer, $225+tax. Your price is better but then there's shipping and I was in a hurry. Be advised the GM one is a rebuild. The chain stores have a better warranty but I've never had much luck with them. Just my .02, YMMV.

BTW, I saw a post recently where a guy got quoted $340 labor for install. It took me less than 2 hrs w/the car on stands and I'm old and slow. I think you could do it in an hour with a lift. I'm thinking about opening a shop to just do C5 starters. That way I wouldn't have to work every day and I could still make some easy money.

Do you actually trust buying a starter from ebay let alone a brand you've never even heard of?

vincentjames501, take your starter off and go see Guy at:

Broner Generator Service
3540 Salena St
Saint Louis, MO 63118
(314) 664-2101

Tell him Todd Pentino sent you. He will take care of you. He can either rebuild yours, or get you another. Personally I would have the Factory one of the car rebuilt. I have been using him for years.
