Tinking Noise
When running a couple of 1/4's.........say, 10 mins apart........from a launch of approx 2k, 5'-10' rubber or less...........then WOT...........
Two times I did this, and then vamoosed......(Smokie Alerts)......
I was in the CDM, and when shutting down from run, I just switched gear over from 4th, to 6th....@ approx 70 mph.....
Then, as I am driving along, I hear this TINK TINK noise, ONLY when applying throttle, liitle or a lot.....matters not.
Tap it, TINK......Steady feed TINK..............
It went on like this for approx 4 miles.....
Stopped for fuel, killed er', and before re-start.....checked codes.....A/OK.
Went approx another 8-10 miles or less, to a rural blacktop.......ran through 1-2-3- No tink's......
Did this several times, at speeds up to 90/5........shifting points same as 1/4's @ 6300..........
This sounds like a clutch, drivetrain issue....as it NEVER does it from a standing stop NO REV launch......just from 2k rpm's & up..........
It's alomost like something is cooling down, but, it's not hot.
For you old codgers, like (ME)......it almost sounds like the exhaust maniflod flapper valve( remember when), when they were cold, they would flop around and make a tinking noise....this is very similar.......but.........it's not the issue.......
What say you ??......any answers welcomed pls.......oipinions....etc.....
It's too Metallic for lifter noise, and even if it were, it would do it ALL the time, at the other runs as well as the 1/4..........it/they wouldn't know the diff from a 1/4, or a block..........as long as the rpm's were the same..........help.
