I am going to post this in the C5 tech section and the autocross section. I have searched all possible forums but I cannot seem to come up with an answer to my question. I am wanting to build a C5-R 'tribute' car. Meaning a sort of race inspired vehicle for the street. My weight goal is around 2800 lbs. Do you think this is a reasonable goal, 6 point roll bar, trans/diff cooler, accusump, 2 racing seats, and everything else not essential to the operation of the vehicle removed. Its 400 lbs less than stock, some of you guys with more knowledge than me should be able to answer this. The weights measurement sticky doesn't list weight for the HVAC system etc. Thanks for you help.

if you are adding roll bar and cooler add another 80 lbs to the car, switching out the seats will get you back that 80 lbs. So now your back to 400 lbs. Going with a carbon fiber hood will get you 20 lbs. Rugs, and insulation will get you 60 lbs. You can save 10 lbs per wheel. You still need to loose 280 lbs... and youv'e invested about 5000 dollars to get you this far...
Good luck

Ferrari sells a Challenge Stadale version of the F430 that reduces the weight down to 2750 lbs. No radio, no carpet etc. Not sure if it is street legal. Be interesting to see what you could get the weight down to in the C5 and still be street legal.
In your post you asked this "Do you think this is a reasonable goal". The answer is no it is not reasonable. Is it do-a-ble? The answer is yes.
I've been studying weight reduction for a year and a half now. You do it by adding up all the oz as well as lbs. Very few people understand the relationship that Power to Weight Ratio plays in any car. Lose the HVAC entire system, all insulation, Radio, all non-essentials, lighter weight tires wheels, fly-wheel clutch, lights, dash bord, seats (using racing light weights) and all of the rest of the crap that make the car fun to drive and you will have a street legal race car that will weigh where you want to be if not lighter. It will be no fun to drive though
First, the idea of the replica is kinda cool, but not to rain on your parade however why the 2800 limit? Second, if its power to weight ratio you are concerned with, for less then half of what you'd spend getting to your weight limit you can add more power and get the same results as far as ratio is concerned. Unless I'm missing the point which happens a lot to me, LOL
It can't just be about power to weight. A lighter car will turn and stop better too.
In my experience, losing weight is more expensive than buying horsepower. Granted, you can do seats and other minor things that are about the same cost, but once you get to buying carbon fiber components, it turns into a mighty expensive preposition. However, if you're willing to spend the money, perhaps have some custom interior pieces made (carbon fiber dash?) I'd say that your goal is reachable, but at what cost?
Like others have said, it will be miserable to drive for more than an hour. The interior will be noisy, the ride will be stiff, no radio,no a/c on hot days, etc. I've had a car that was on a diet and it was crap to drive when I had a headache or on long trips.
I'd suggest a compromise. A set of good Recaro or Sparco touring seats (in carbon fiber), carbon fiber hood, light wheels, all of the little, but no so insanely expensive things and then add some more power to it. The result would be a comfortable cruiser and could still kick some ***.
