Default ? about changing to T84 headlights

Will be putting in a set of the euro T-84 Glass headlights and am wondering in there is a different gear needed vs the USA stock gear to handle whatever added weight there might be in lifting them up.

I think the 04's had a better gear than the earlier ones.

Any input?

Mine still have the nylon gears but I have a set of brass gears in the toolbox just in case. I had a new gear under warranty in 04, fitted my Euros in 05 and no trouble since. I'd wait until you hit a problem before changing.

Check out Leaftye's sticky under the headlight section for all the info.

What conversion did you use? Do you have HIDs for high and low beams? Does the bulb move? If I could ask, how much were the HIDconversions?

The T84 only has a single housing normally fitted with a dual filament bulb for both high and low beam. i doubt you could fit separate HIDs in there for high & low.

DeeGee, I did an internet search, there are 3 HID systems for T84 (H4) bulbs: 1) One bulb, low beams only, 2) One bulb, it moves for high beams, 3) Two bulbs (Bi-Xenon) low and high beams

Thanks for the response. This is a 4th option that I was not aware of: Hi Halogen Bulb and low HID bulb combination.

I assume the low HID bulb stays on all with the high beams?

Thanks for the link What specific kit fits the t84 I am dense and cannot figure it out. You sound satisfied and the product looks good the PIAA's will soon pass and do not emit enough light

Had mine for about 3 years on the stock nylon gears - no problems yet, but have a brass set standing by.

the lows go off when you turn the highs on, and the highs are pretty much worth less but they do fulfill the requirements for state inspection. the H4 hi/low kit is what works with the single t84 housing
