Default 224 Cam

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anybody is running a 224 Cam and making 400RWHP? Or is it possible with this cam? I wanted to put in my 01 ZO6 with full boltons.

You should get close (or above) the 400 mark with a tune. Heads will put you well over 400.

I run a comp 224/224 581/581 112

also have LTs, High flow cats and straight pipes.

Slightly PP LS6 heads, and a CAI, TPIS PP TB, 3qt accu-sump with oil cooler

Just over 400 rwhp and 405 rwtq

the biggest boost is almost flat torque curve of 400 rwtq at 3000 rpms right up to 5000 rpms

224/224-590 on a 109 LSA..433rwhp AND 400 tq. With a gear, has been a great cam for strip & street. Given me just under 11.3 quarter miles @ 125 mph with a bad clutch trying to force it thru the gears.
However. I do have heads with that cam.

On an ls1 block and PP ls1 heads I made well over 400rwhp with a Cartek 2x cam, 224/228 .590 113. With all the bolt ons and cam around that size you should be good for over 400rwhp

A 224 cam gave Nickolbag enough umphhhh to yank a front wheel off the ground. I really think he has a fat chic in the trunk though !!

That is a bad-azz picture Nickol !!!!!!!!!! I'm jealous (the pic not the chic in the trunk )!

I hit 392 RWHP with the 224 .567" on 115. Heads are LS2 (no porting). Had LG Street (crap) headers at the time. FWIW, I gained 4 HP with the LS6 intake

So as you have read, you will likely need heads. How much is 10-15 HP worth to you??? Would you really be upset with 398 RWHP? I was, then i got over it. Two years later, I am glad that I didn't drop over $2k on heads for a few hp. I used that cash to buy a new truck for my daily driver.

224 cam here with FAST 90, Kooks 1 7/8, Hurricane intake and BB bullets and made over 410 through an A4, after Charlie at RPM took 2* out for nitrous.

I'm running the 224R cam from TSP. It is a 224/224 581/581 on a 114LSA.

That with Kooks LT's and HF cats, blackwing, and a tune netted me 408rwhp and 388rwtq.

The cam is awesome!

2001 Ls2 intake, A4 with 2:73, Headers, 3 inch mid pipes, stock mufflers, Breathless intake, and am making 330 rwhp. Would a 224/228 cam, with PP throttle body, and tune give me 385 rwhp or better?

Default I got air too

Sorry to hi-jack but I did the same kind of lift with my Silverado. I hooked up my trailer to load up the Z for the track. I forgot to unhook the tractor chain attached to the trailer & pine tree.
Stopped me dead in my tracks !!! Must have looked just like Nichol

55rwhp from a cam only? I don't think it will be quite that much from just a 224/228 with a nice safe tune for the street.

I have your exact mods with the exception of the LS2 intake and am making a little more horsepower (see sig). Now that cam and a set of 243 LS6 heads will definitely get you there with a good tune.

I can't stress enough how important the tune is to get the maximum horsepower from your ride...especially the A4's.
