syncro pin in the sifter?

syncro pin in the sifter?
I went to pick up my car yesterday from the stealership and i saw the mech in the drivers seat with my center console apart. The service guy said it was having a hard time shifting into 2nd, 4th and 6th and that the syncro pin needed to be replaced. The car had the clutch slave replaced. Anyone know what is really going on here?

SYNCHRO PIN???????????????????
There arnt ant SYNCHROS or PINS inside the shifer! 
There is however a Neutral Pin that is inserted into the front snout of the shifter housing to put the shifter in the known NEUTRAL position.
Once its in neutral the shift linkage connector can be loosened and the linkage can be aligned to the neutral position.
Could be that they mispronounced or misquoted the service manual but,,,,,it sounds fishy to me!
