CD Player doing something odd on startup....

CD Player doing something odd on startup....
For the past two days, when I start up my car and turn the cd player on it will skip drastically on any CD. But after the car heats up it doesn't skip anymore. Any ideas what is causing this? Thanks.

Hi. Are you talking about your in-dash CD player or a disc changer?
In either case, have you cleaned it lately? (Not sure why it would make a difference whether it's warm or not, but being dirty would definitely make it skip.)

Targa, I'm referring to the in-dash CD player. No, I haven't cleaned it. I didn't think it'd be necessary with only 28K on it but I could try that. It's just that it goes away after I have been driving for about 15 minutes.

I REALLY hope I'm not getting condensation in the cd player that is a BIG NO NO! I guess I should run it by the dealer. GRRR. I hate going to the dealer.

I'm thinking it may be condensation as well. The lens is probably fogging up and once the car warms up, it clears the fog.

I think you nailed it Zapper. High humidity will cause the skip, but usually after about an hour of driving it stops....or so has been the case in the Z-28. So far I haven't observed the problem in the Vette.
