A couple weeks ago the drivers side headlight intermittenly won't come up; then it stops all together. The light still works fine, it just won't pop up.
I pulled the module out on Friday and put some connecting grease on all the pins cuz they were a little corroded. Then the headlight starts working but it's working opposite to the passenger side!!! So I figure it's gotta be the module. I ordered a new one and I just replaced it and the drivers side is still not working!!!
I've checked the motor and it works fine. Fuse is good. The one ground I can see (the one right by the left headlight motor) is clean and the wires are fine. Passenger side motor is getting a consistent 10V when I flip the switch but the drivers side is getting very low (maybe 1 V).
So it's not the module, it's not the motor, not a fuse....WHAT AM I MISSING??????
based on what you have checked and your 10V vs 1V reading, it sounds like you have a damaged wire somewhere in there. you may want to inspect the wires for damage and ohm them out to see if anyone has an abnormally high resistance. if you find one use some new wire and replace the damaged section.
you should get more than 10V on the other side anyway.
Well I know that I just read somewhere recently that the normal operating voltage is 10 V for that circuit. Doesn't make sense...I know...cuz the whole car works on a 12 V but I did just read that. So i know the 10V on the passenger side is normal.
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the headlight motor circuit???
Where do the wires run from the module to the drivers side headlight? I think they run down by the front bumper and across...that's what it looked like earlier.
Before you get too wrapped up in replacing stuff, try manualy positioning the headlights to either DOWN or UP and then apply power to position them to a desired position and see if theu will sync up.
Nope that didn't work either...been there...done that. I've taken the multimeter to the connection and there's definetly no voltage getting to the motor.
