Default Sticking Trunk Latch

Since I bought my ZO6, I have had intermittent problems with closing the trunk. Using the same downward force, sometimes it would take 2 - 3 attempts before it would stay closed. I mentioned it once when I was at the dealer, but the tech suggested that I wait, to see if the problem resolves on its own.
Over the past year, I have made the observation of when the problem will arise. When I unlock the trunk (remote or dash control) and a click/click noise comes from the rear trunk lock, the lid will close without any problem. If I unlock it and I hear only a single click noise, I will have difficulty getting it to close. At this point, if I tap the lock assembley with my hand from the inside of the trunk, the second click can be heard and the trunk lid can be closed.
I'm wondering if the lock is just sticking in the open position. Is this a problem that anyone else has experienced? Would some kind of lubricant be of use, and if so, what should be used?
The problem seems to be getting worse in that I'm having more and more trouble getting that second click, having to tap on the lock mechanism over and over. I dread a trip to the dealer.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Default Re: Sticking Trunk Latch (Sleeper)

Since you would rather not take it to the dealer I would try and lubricate it before going any further. It can't hurt, that's for sure. White lithium grease should be appropriate for the job. If you're able to get it to work properly with a little tapping it sounds like this should work.

Good luck :seeya
