I received the column lock bypass and have installed it. The car ran without a problem once and then when I reconnected the knee pad etc and tried the car again the problem surfaced again i.e. service steering column and the car cut out. I tried resetting the computer and disconnecting the battery and restarting the car but the problem was still there. I then rechecked the bypass and disconnected and reconnected this to the car however the problem remains. Could there be a problem with the bypass??
It is unlikely that it is the bypass. Did you try pulling fuse #25? The same thing came up on my DIC after the install. Had to pull the fuse to get it to work properly. Just pull it for 15 seconds, replace, and retest. Good luck!
Is the wheel free to turn at this moment? If so, then you got the column unlocked. Turn the car off and pull the fuse and then try again. I'd keep trying the fuse until it works. If it doesn't, start over again from the beginning. Good luck. :chevy
started fromn scratch again including connecting the old connector and then disconnecting it before connecting the bypass.. still no luck....wonder if there is a problem with the computer. I have autotap and checked DTC's. The only DTC there is, is fuel theft deterrent signal not being received. Could I have disconnected this by mistake?
Maybe you guys can help me. I installed the bypass months ago & it works but everytime I start the car I get "pull key wait 10 seconds". If I don't, the car dies. So, I have to pull the key and try again. I don't have to wait 10 secs, but it's really annoying. I was sent a new bypass to see if the original was defective, but no change. It sure beats a locked steering wheel, but if there is a "new" solution out there, I'm game.
I've been off the forum for a while, so maybe this is an old question. If so, I apologize.

Did you try to pull the fuse #25? This sometimes fixes the problem you have once and for all...
