Default Torque converter won't come off

Car is a 97.

My torque converter is stuck on the torque tube. I think I may have bent the assembly some when I was lowering / pulling the trans. Assuming for now that I didn't...

I removed the rubber 'inspection latch' on the carrier and rapped on the TC a few time with a hammer to no avail.

Is there anything retaining the TC onto the TT? Any tricks to getting this thing off?

Did you remove the three 15mm headed bolts that attach the converter to the drive plate?

Yes. You might consider replacing the drive plate as you could of damaged it. I happen to have HD drive plates in stock. Give us a call if you need one or anything else for that matter. 1-800-406-1109

Wow, I may have damaged it. I guess the result would be a nasty, possibly destructive vibration.

Thanks for this info and, thanks for the help on the phone the other day also. One of your guys helped me confirm that an '02 trans would fit in a '97, and the tip about the prindle switch swap helped because I just removed the whole bracket before I pulled the trans, which made things easier.

Not trying to sell you anything, and if you would like a free stock drive plate I have several take-offs. Be sure and flush your cooler out before the new trans install.

That said, aftermarket converter get the HD drive plate. Cheap insurance against flex.
