Torque converter chattering
I'm getting ready to install a trans/TC w/ 40k on them. I slide the TC on the trans and there is kind of a grinding sound when I rotate it.
Is this because it is dry? How do I know that I have the TC slid on all of the way?
I really don't want to put in a bad setup, and have to go through all of this again!

Sounds like you have it back all of the way. The back side of the converter is probably rubbing the pump making that sound. When you mate the trans and the torque tube be easy and make sure the converter will turn easily. When the trans and torque tube are mated you should be able to spin the converter and have to pull the converter to the drive plate.

This sounds like it will be tricky. I don't see how I can possibly 'pull' it unless by grabbing the converter by threading the bolts.
I'm going to go try it now.

Thanks for all your help man. I got the tranny bolted in. I think I may be done for the night, so I'll give the flex plate a try tomorrow night.
