Default tire help

i am putting stock Z06 wheels on a 02 coupe, the KDW tires dont come in the same size as the stock Z tires. they only have 255 and 275 for the front wheels, will the 275/40ZR17 fit the front of my car?

The problem with a 275/40/17 tire is the sidewall is noticeably taller than a 295/35/18 rear tire (stock ZO6 size).
Michelin PS2's are available in 265/40/17 & 295/35/18 sizes, and are the best tires that I've had on my ZO6.

Another important thing to remember when making tire changes--front or back---make sure that you always keep about a 1" split between the front and rear heights--the rears being 1" taller---If you get this too far off your traction contol system will not work properly and more importantly--your ABS braking system will not work properly either--In a panic quick stop--when needed the most !!

yes it will fit.. but i wouldn't recomend a bigger size(275) for the front its not safe.. but for the rear u can go bigger like 315...i just installed 17x40x255 last week for the front and its fit 100% with no problem..

The height in mm would be 40% of 265mm.

What is the story with the KDW tires? Have you already purchased them, thinking about it, etc? Obviously, there are other options.

A 315/30/18 tire is only ~25.5" tall, and will bulge on a 10.5 rim.

Dude....your kidding right? There are plenty of choices, mild to wild, that offer factory sizes. Do a little research on tirerack.com, or other websites.

there are only 3 tires that come up on tirerack when you check for both sizes. i think i will go with the smaller KDW in the front...

So is this a price issue? I thought the advantage of having the ZO6 rims was the ability to have more rubber.

There are plenty of forum members out there that run a 275/40/17 in front with no problems. A popular change is to a 275/35/18 front tire which has an overall diameter of 25.6 which is exactly what a 275/40/17 is, 25.6. Some tires state 25.7. Go to Tire Rack's site a do a little research. Don't limit yourself.

really liking the KDW's, fronts are the same diameter but the rears are shorter by .6 inches, will this throw off the traction controll/abs and howbad will the speedo be?

should not affect the speedo since that runs off front wheels (i beleive), not sure about the tc/abs. Anybody else got any input?

I had 275 35 18's on the front with 18 X9.5 rims and had no problem.

On the rear I used 295 35 18 on 18X10.5 rims.

I have just replaced them with 275 -30 19 on front and 305 -30 19 on rear with 19X 10 front wheels and 19X11.5 rears.

No Issues
