Default Intake Manifold Gasket

Planning to take the intake manifold off for oil sensor. As fas as the gaskets are concerned, anything better or worse than OEM gaskets? Might also look at the knock sensors...how many of them are there? Not that expensive if only one.

None that I know of,but you can likely reuse your originals if they are not bad.
These do not use the traditional gaskets you may be thinking of.On the Ls1/6/2,they use a small rubber gasket or ring around each individual port that fits into a small groove to seal.

Stock gaskets are fine, and provided you don't damage them on removal, should be able to be reused. There are two knock sensors, you can research the price at anyone of the vendors listed on this site like : gmpartshouse.com

Thanks guys. Car has 140k plus on, so will just get new gaskets, and new knock sensors as well. Replace before they go and have to open the manifold again.

You may want to use the Fast gaskets for the intake manifold since they are cheaper then the stock replacements.

Take a look at the stock ones, but 99% of the time they are just fine to re-use

I would defenetily replace both knock sensors and the knock sensor harness at 140k, good preventitive mainteance

Definitely relocating it with a Buick sensor. Don't plan on doing this again. Just figuring out what else to replace while I am in there. Would rather be driving the car than fixing it, so always try to do preventative stuff if it is not too expensive.

I really don't see the merit in going to the Buick sensor. Most of the failures are attributed to the electronics failing in the sensor itself. The disparity in cost is small between the C5 and Buick. That way, all you have to do is adapt to the factory sensor and run a line to the block. In any case, with the sensor relocated, if you do get one that fails in two weeks, it's a 10 minute job instead of a 1.5 hour job.

Thing with the Buick sensor is someone posted a list with all the parts, adapters needed to relocate. So pretty much just followed that and bought the adapters and pipes.

Have you thought about doing the "cut method " for the oil sender. I did mine last week and a friends this week. Took 30 - 45 min plus next time it will only take 10 min to change. I know alot of guys do not want to cut a hole but you can not tell once finished. I know this will not help with knock sensors.

I don't really like the idea of having to hunt down adapters, and runn line and everything for the sensor relocation. I just relocated my sensor to the side of the block, and extended the harness. No need to buy any parts except the sensor itself.

Already bought all the stuff. So will just go that route. Will just get the additional knock sensors and wiring. Anybody know the wiring parts number?

That is why I said use the Fast gaskets. You can pick up a set of those for around 15 dollars.
