I'm on the last wheel replacing my rotors and pads. The rotor is a little hard to come off, so I pull a little harder and OOPPPSS, the parking brake spring goes flying. I'm not exactly sure where/how to put it back, but I've been workng on this thing for over TWO HOURS!! and no luck.
Can anyone provide any tips on where and how to put the parkng brake spring/shoes back on??
Thanks
Thanks, that's a great photo. The only thing that concerns me with mine, is that I have the center of the spring (the tip) inside the brake shoe like I think it should be, and the two tabs are snapped in place, but the two ends of the spring are not really inside the shoe. Should they be? I can't reallly see the top one, but the bottom one looks like it is between the backing and the sheild. But when I push on it with a screwdriver, it slides out to the way with no resistance (anotherwords, I don't think it is interfering with the shoe)
Do you think this will work?
Oh Well...I guess I'll have to pull everything back apart and check it again. I put the center (tip) of the spring in the brake shoe, but the ends kept popping out everytime I tried to hook the clips, so I figured they must not matter as much.
Wow, this sure did put a damper on my only vailable modding weekend that I'll have for a while

Try my wire trick that I posted above.......worked well for me
ThanksJR, That's proably what I'll wind up doing. I drove it to church, out to lunch etc this moring, and the rotor was not hot (not really even warm.) I don't know if it's holding or not, but it will proably be a couple of weeks before I can get back to it.
If the wire trick doesn't work for me, I may just "eliminate" the shoe. It's not like I have used the parking brake since I've owned the car anyway
I almost s*** when that happened to me! From just adjusting the e brake, all of a sudden I was hit with what I call the "broken clock syndrome." I wound up making a tool from a small screwdriver and grinding a v notch in it. Then I pulled the shoe forward enough to use the tool like a small finger and push the damm spring over the retainers.
Man was I happy when that worked!
