Default FE1 (base) and FE4 (Z06) leaf spring differences PICS

One semi-popular upgrade for owners of base suspension vettes is to add Z06 suspension components. There doesn't seem to be much posted on how to tell the difference between the monoleafs of the different suspensions so I decided to post some photo evidence for those considering buying used Z06 springs (you can use this to make sure you get what you pay for). I do not have any info for the Z51 components which should fall somewhere between the base and FE4.

Here are the two different rear monoleafs. the one in the foreground is the Z06 and you can see that it is flatter by about 3/4" at the center.

The rear base spring measures .780 inches thick at the center point.

The rear Z06 spring measures .823 inches thick at the center point. Thats .043" thicker than the base spring.

The front Z06 spring is also flatter than the base but not as noticable as the rear thus no side by side picture.

The front base measures .675 inches at the center point

The front Z06 measures .722 inches at the center point. That's .047 thicker than the base spring.

I hope this info is helpful to someone buying used Z springs.

Do you know if there is a difference between the Z06 spring and the 2004 Z06 Springs? I read the rears are even stiffer to match up with the retuned 04 Z06 shocks. Do you know if there is a different part number for 04 Z06 rear spring?

Excellent thread. I have a pair of 04 Z06 leaves in my garage, no plan to use them, but was thinking earlier how might I convince a buyer they are what I say they are?
