Can I replace my brake lines without having to bleed the whole system? I am replacing the brake lines, rotors, calipers, pads, etc. Since I am a Safety Engineer, thought it was time!
You're going to have to bleed the system if you change the lines. If by "whole system" you mean that the dealership will have to use a Tech II on the ABS, then no, you won't have to do that.
If I go with the Speed Bleeders, do I need the pressure bleeder?
It's kinda either/or .....
The pressure bleeder allows a single person to bleed the brakes because the pressure bleeder eliminates the need for someone to pump the brake pedal. The lone person simply goes to each bleed screw (in the correct sequence above) and opens each screw until that caliper is bled. With the Sped Bleeders, a single person can still bleed the brakes, but they have to pump the pedal and hope they can see hat the fluid is coming out cleanly from each caliper. The speed bleeders simply eliminate the need to close the screw between each pump of the brakes.
Thanks all. Decided to go with the Speed Bleeders and Valvoline Synpower DOT3 & DOT4.
When the weather warms up a bit here in extreme Upstate NY I am doing a complete reinstall from Fluid to SS Brake lines to Powerslot Rotors(Zinc Coated-Slotted and Dimpled) to Speed Bleeders to Powdercoated Brackets & Calipers to new Ceramic Pads to SS Pad Covers....
This is a first time auto monkey project for me...so wish me luck!
