Default Another clutch question

I will be ordering a clutch for my 01 Z06 on monday, so it gives me about 1.5 days to decide what I am going with. I need info from your experiences. I want to make sure I go with the "right one" b/c its a pain to do a clutch in the vettes so I dont want to have to replace it anytime soon.

Just so you know how the car will be driven b/c that matters alot on the decision. The car will be driven on the street everyday and I will take it to the track every once in a while. I usually only go when I do more mods to the car. The car is a full bolt on with a cam only. It will be on MT Drag Radials at the track though.

I was thinking about the new Centerforce DFX. I had one in my 03 cobra and loved it. The clutch was very soft and grabbed awesome when I wanted it to. Although I only had about 1k miles on it before I sold the car. I am looking for something strong but easy on the leg b/c its my DD.

Give them a call since they're having a discount. A lot of members will recommend this clutch. Do it right the first time and go with these. I will be getting one once I get my cash saved up. Heard so many good reviews on this clutch, to me from what I read it's the best on the market.

Just a little advice if I may, get a remote bleeder, change out all your hydraulics to 2004, consider a heavy duty tunnel plate and check your torque tube bushings as well. You are there anyways, these are things to consider.

Best of luck

I went with the Textralia x-grip because it holds more power (less than the z-grip) but is more street friendly.

I am getting ready to do a clutch job myself and was looking at the Textralia but have recently heard they are having quality problems leading to failures. I am still looking at whose clutch to run with. I autoX a lot and drive my car "like I stole it" most days - not my daily driver - so I need a rugged but reliable clutch.

I have not seen this, were the specific instances? One reason I went with Tex is when a problem does occur, they seem to stand behind the clutch better than any other vendor.

I'm in the Houston area and ALL OF WHAT I KNOW IS HEARSAY.

I have been told by a few folks who installed the Textralia they have lost the clutch disc itself. Local shops like Corvettes of Houston and MTI did the installs so I very much doubt it is an installer issue - those shops are top notch. I do not have any details other than the above and in no way am I flaming the Textralia - it is my first replacement choice to use - but I am looking to verify or see if others are encountering the same problem.

The only thing I can say is each time there has been an issue with the Tex (other than all out abuse), they have stepped in and helped the owner. In some cases the customer service was incredible. This was one of the big selling points for me when I made my decision. Especially since it wasn't a job I wanted to do again any time soon

You are on the right track... the DFX is the way to go.. Im sure the Tex is a great clutch but its at least twice as much. I have yet to hear someone tell me the DFX isnt good. As mentioned in other post, you only want to go in there once, get the remote bleeder and put in a new Slave, all slaves for C5s are now the same for all years.

I think anyone who has done this job will agree that the remote bleeder is worth its weight in gold. I am not sure I could have actually bled the clutch without it, and if I did, I would likely still smell like brake fluid
