Default HELP! Traction needed!

Opinions needed. With my current tires/wheels I either leave the traction system on and get "the Bogs", or fishtail and go up in smoke all the way through second gear. My 285/35-18 Dunlops are worlds better than the stock sized EMT's, but just aren't enough. If I went with repro 1" wider polished rears, what's available for better grip? What are you guys using, for the street, not the track? Are 315/35-18's or 305/35-18's out there? THANKS

NONE of both.

If there were 315/35/18, then I would have them!!!

Only chance would be 295/35 18 or the new PIRELLI 315/30/15.

The Pirelli´s hook up very good (I have them in 295/35/18 rear).

At the track go with some drag radials available in 17" sizes such as Nitto 315/35/17 or 275/35/17. Optionally 26" x 10.5" ET Streets mounted on 16" rims provide the best traction.

For the street, just get the largest street radial you possibly can. I'm looking at some 345x30x18's myself...

The 345 would be great, but you would need to tub your car.
If tubbing is no problem, then yessss, go for the 345!!

 What rim width would be needed to hold those monsters, 13", 13.5"?

They will fit snuggly on 18" x 12" but as Michael pointed out they will require mini-tubs in the rear for clearance. The largest wheel I've heard of going on without tubs was a 335 with a offset that made it stick out a little. Perhaps someone will post up about it.

Perfect fit for 345 would be 12,5 - 13", but like Godspeed said, they would go on 12`s also. But then the trade is not completeley on the highway.
If you go 345 then on at least 12,5 rims, or they would not bring more trade to the highway than the 325 on a 12!!
