Default Electrical nightmare...Help!!

I was in the process of installing a Rap tor shift. I used as my guide this thread
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...um_id=1&arch=1

I was moving along using the pin to ground method to find the correct white wire (going to the tech). Well I pushed through a white wire don't know which one and into a red wire (hot wire). I got some sparks and a burn on my finger from the pin. I got the damage from having the ground attached as I pushed in the pin. I am not sure I connected the white and red, I may have slipped off the with and sank into the red.

I checked my codes and found
B0502 RH DRL relay circuit
B0507 LH DRL relay circuit
B2482 Backup relay circuit

Before checking I did pull every fuse inside and out and found all to be good.

Also BO-RFA no comm.
HVAC- no comm.
I am going to go back and make sure all the fuses I pulled are in correctly (but I think they are).

I do own the shop manuals but don't understand the electrical section, i don't have a clue where to start.

Further research reveals I was probing the wrong bundle of wires. The ones I screwed up go to the light stalk. I guess that accounts for the codes about the DRL codes. I was able to erase those codes, but the lights still don't come on.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Gratefully yours,
Jay B

this is not a good way to locate a wire. pushing a pin through a hot wire in close areas is never easy. you could start by checking to make sure any of the other wires are not damaged and if they are tape them if they are not too bad. also see if they came out of the harness end. they might look in place but could be loose. then try to reset your messages and see if they still come up. i don't see a red only a pink or orange. these are coming from batt. so maybe you just juiced your finger and not anything else. the electronics are tedious. just start with one problem and follow your way around using the manual.

I updated my original post with some new info. I was working with the wrong bundle of wires. The cut in the red wire is very small I put a dab of liquid tap on it to seal it.
Even though I screwed up the bundle going to the light switch (and other steering column stuff), I don't know why the HVAC will not come on and I am getting a no comm code for it.

i am stuck at work right now and can't get to my books. i would just try to follow where the wires go for that problem and look at where they go in the book. as with any electrical problem it is a matter of eleiminating what is still good. if you have a meter it will help here. hopefully someone can look this one up for you. maybe put a meter on the HVAC fuses? check all connections!

did you break the wire you accidently checked? it could be damaged enough to not be able to send a signal over it. is it burnt? how bout if it has voltage at the plug? you can use any ground to check.

No, did not break the wire. Just nicked off small piece of insulation.

There are relays in the passenger side footwell #38 and #40. Try swaping them out with another and see if that fixes your problem.

Going to have to wait till morning. I disconnected the battery it was going dead. It has 11.7 volts disconnected. If it has more voltage in the morning (cause they sometimes rejuvenate themselves) I will know there is something causing the drain.

I have been reading the manual though every other instruction is to hook up a scan tool (which I don't have). But on the trouble shooting part of the HVAC section it did say one cause of getting a "no comm" warning was low voltage. Then another cause could be the interior temp sensor is grounded. I will check the sensor tomorrow when I have more light. But I did not take the lower panel all the way off. It is hanging from side by the sensor, so it could be grounded. But I am thinking the unit should at least light up.

Keep the suggestions coming I will report back tomorrow.

the low batt could be the root cause. i say start it and let the batt charge then try again. the code comes from the start sequence so if you have a fully charged batt then you can rule that out. the PCM looks for 12 volts if you have less this can cause all kinds of issues. poeple with battery problems usually have the same troubles. good luck you can get through this.

My search skills leave a lot to be desired. I put in HVAC no-comm and got 15 pages.

Could you send me a URL for the "bad news".

You will need a formal electrical schematic in order to determine what circuit got power applied to it that wasn't supposed to have. Then, you will have to track it down via that circuit. You've got some serious work ahead of you, but can't do it without the schematic. Things are simply too complex. If the applied short was on there more than a few seconds, then wires probably melted. If it was only for a part of a second, then you may have only blown some fuses which I would expect. Assuming you checked all in the floor board area, make sure you look at the fuse box in the engine compartment. You may need to look at the backside of the fuse blocks too. Hint, disconnect the battery first.

If your battery is up to full charge, pull the codes and post
