Default LS1 vs. LS2 FLYWHEEL INPUT NEEDED!!

I'm looking at getting a LS7 clutch kit with the LS2 flywheel included from SDPC for my 99 FRC. All together the kit is only $399.

My question is:

Is there a major difference between the LS2 flywheel vs. the LS1 flywheel? (like weight?)

Don't think there is that much difference, but it's not like you have a choice if you want to run the clutch.

I believe their is a 7 lb difference between a LS1/6 flywheel and LS2/7 flywheel........The later being heavier.

That means that the car will have worse throttle response and the car will accelerate slower because of the increase in rotating mass.

On the plus side , if you drag race , you will have more inertia to break drive line components/ or launch harder.

If you cant tell I am not on the LS2/7 clutch ,pressure plate , flywheel program. Hell if I had a C6 I would replace its assy. with an assy. from a C5. (less rotating mass is better)

That's funny, I have a '99 frc and i'm getting ready to buy the same clutch from the same place. I think the flywheel is billet steel vs. cast on the ls1. I would like to know the same answer.

The LS7 clutch is fine, although heavy up to it's rated power. Beyond that it likely unreliable. There are guys that push them but they are on a super clean clutch fluid maintenance program.

I didn't go with this combination solely due to the weight. Here's the numbers I found when I was looking. I have below with the Fidanza for comparison, with the GM flywheel it is 57 lbs total from what I found.
