Roy Dudley here. My '98 C5 Coupe passenger side mirror "snapped" a pin or something inside the mount, and now it just swivels in the wind. Won't "snap back" and hold to its normal position. I suspect a retaining clip or something inside is broken.
QUESTION: Is there any way to "DIY" disassembly and repair without having to spend hundreds on a new mirror? Hope someone has the magic answer!
There are posts that tell how to repair, but there is no really good solution. The factory setup is to press a keeper ring on the end of the shaft, which eventually pops off. To repair you have to remove the mirror, and install a washer and pin to keep the mirror on the shaft.
