What is the best way to cut braided fuel lines. I anm using them for installing my oil can and was wondering if there is a good way to cut them?
Thanks
FRED
Wrap black electrical tape tightly around the hose where you want to cut it. Then cut it (hacksaw or chop saw works). The idea is to make the cut in the middle of the taped area.
Fred, I use a air powered cutting wheel I put some tape around where I need to cut and fire up the compressor. The cutting wheels cuts it like butter. Good luck with it you can use a hack saw too just make sure you tape the area to be cut.
Summit and Jegs both sell a tool for cutting stainless steel line. It looks similiar to a small set of bolt cutters but the jaws are curved to conform to the shape of the hose. I have the Summit tool and it works well up to a 5/8" braided stainless steel heater hose. The cutter also tends to bend the strands into the hose (making it easier to put the hose end on) instead of fraying them away from the hose when you use a hacksaw or cut of wheel.
