Default Skip shift works some times

I did a search for my skip shift not working all of the time and just found problems with guys wanting to get the trans not to do it.I just bought a 1999 coupe. The skip shift works some of the time!If I am on the express way for a while and get off in in town the skip shift will work for a day or two. Then it will just work some times. Please give any advise on what to look for. Thanks Dan

This is a screen pic of the stock skip shift settings. See if your skip shift works when your TPS, ECT, MPH and Baro values match. I disable the skip shift by setting the enable temp really high when tuning 6 spd cars.

Why not just install the skip shift eliminator like I did on my '99 and be done with the problem?

I bet it's working OK ... it's just that it only works under certain conditions as Russ K has shown.

One key to when it should be working is when you see the skip shift light come on on the dash. That is the only time it will skip shift from 1st to 4th gear.

Yes, put a skip shift eliminator in and forget about it.

Thats like wanting a TOOTH ACHE! Most people would rather it NOT work. Its probably working but not all of the gates are being met to allow it to kick in.

When my ZO6 still had it, I would see it kick in when I was on the Navy base, (max speed is 25 MPH ) and traffic is normaly congested.

It doesn't work till the motor is fully warms up for a while, then only under very light throttle. If all the parameters are not met the computer will not signal for a skip shift. I get the same type of reaction usually because it has not warmed enough. It will not bother me soon as I just ordered a cags(computer aided gear selection) eliminator.Less than $20 and plug and play.I'll pick my own gears thank you G.M.
