Default Three Cams One Choice

Well, ive narrowed it down to three cams.. all three should put me in the 400HP bracket with my other mods... so help me decide between now and tomorrow morning on which one it will be!!! Im looking for good top end power, and not a horrible lope.. but i dont mind SOME lope....

TSP Magic stick V3 237/242, .603"/.609" 113

TSP Torquer V2 232/234, .595"/.598" 113

TSP 233/239, .595"/.603" 113

Me goes with Torquerer assuming u have headers, so its free flowing exhaust so u dont need too much gap between intake an d exhaust duration, infact i lik ereverse pattern for a good flow exhaust, like MTI X1 230/227. If u have 400 RWHP target than even an smaller like 224/228 with 113-114 LS will give u easily 400 mark with other supporting mods ofcourse.

Good top end power n/a means lope at idle. Can't have your cake and eat it too...

If you want a little lope and a nice 6600 rpm street cam, choose the T2.

If you really do want noticeable lope, and a stronger top end that pulls to 6800...go with the 233/239.

The 7000rpm hard-loping MS3 is probably not for you.

Those RPM peaks are based on the cam, and may not reflect where your exact engine setup peaks...but this should give you a basic idea of the difference between the cams you're comparing.

The two bigger cams may possibly put you into an area of piston to valve clearence issues. Consider adding in the step of claying your clearences to be sure. Sorry but I like to error on the side of caution.

Best of luck to you.

I love you.

ninja edit.. that was to Y2K.... and ive already asked TSP about clearances and all of the cams will be fine without flycutting... looks like the MS3 is outta the running because my motor isnt really setup for where its gonna be making the best/most of its power.

Torquer V2 232/234, .595"/.598" 113 My choice or a bit smaller. I have a Futral F13 that pulls well on the big end. It has a very noticible lope as will the Tv2. This will be a good choice if you have bolt ons. I wouldnt go ay bigger with stock heads. My opinion.

T3 or MS4 with litely ported 243 heads, still maintaining stock valve size. This way you will maintain PTV, don't worry about driveabllity as long as you have a good tuner. These cams both make good torque at lower rpm's.

My mods are as follows

Vararam, TSP 1-3/4 headers, 3" high flow cats, and corsa pace car cat back.

Im shooting for that 400 on stock heads and ls1 intake mani. I know its possible. just need the right cam and Ed im sure can do the rest
