I did a search and see some folks have managed DIN 2 size GPS/stereo systems via altering their dash panel to move the A/C control down lower....but I don't have time for such craftmanship and see some hints of someone making such a dash "ready made" for sale..but in the two or three posts I see it hinted at, no one ever mentions who exactly sells the thing....anyone know ?
Well for $525 +$125 core charge you might want to find the time...
Yikes. After seeing that price, plus the prices of the DIN 2 stereo/GPS units.. my latest thought is to just replace the standard stereo with a DIN 1.5 size stereo with sat radio connection and have the GPS as a seperate unit on a stalk type mount.
Really, it is not that hard to do the bezel mod yourself. I bought bezel from Gene and GmPartsHouse for like $135.. put that in my car and started modding the old one. Took me about a month of working on it when I felt like it (didnt really get in a hurry) then I was ready to do my carPC install. The best part is I was driving me car the entire time I was making the modded dash and when I finished my project I sold the all but new bezel for like $120 I think.
So for under $100 you can do it yourself if you have basic tools like a dremel, mouse sander and some patience.. all while still driving your car as much as you want.
Was at a car audio place today and the owner insisted I could replace my C5 dash bezel with one from a C6. But seeing as I've not noticed anyone here mention that as an option, I presume he was wrong...right ?

I wouldn't go back to that audio place for any work. Wrong!

Just for my curiosity, why didn't you mod the new one and save the labor of switching them out more than once ?

I did the exact thing when I went to double din. It's only a 10 minute job to get the bezel out of the car and I just would rather cut up an old part rather than a new one. After the finish of the project I now have an almost brand new bezel to sell, rather than a 4 year old one.
That reminds me. I have to get that bezel down, take a pic and get it on fleaBay.
