I just bought a 2000 Corvette. It has the 3.15 performance axle ratio. What is the difference between that and the standard 2.71:1 ratio. How will that affect mileage, would I feel the difference in performance if two cars were side by side. What would the acceleration numbers and top speeds be with both ratios? Thanks, Henry

the 3.15 gives the engine more mechanical advantage.

theoritically; the standard 2.73 ratio should give better MPG; but I got 28mpg on the highway with my 3.15's. The 3.15 should give better accceleration. I can tell the difference between the two; but it is minor.

Top speed in the C5 is not gearing restricted; it is HP restricted. You'll never tach-out with either the 2.73 or 3.15. unless you're running a lot more power than stock. You're more likely to see a higher top speed with the 3.15 due to the mechanical advantage they give - helping the car have more thrust to "push" the air aside.
