Default TSP headers installed, impressions

Hey all,

My headers are officially installed. I went with TSP's headers with off-road x-pipe. The overall finish of them is quite good, smooth attractive welds.

Here's my thoughts on the install:
They were quite easy to get in place, they went in without any drama. However, to actually get them bolted up was another story. It appears one of the O2 bungs is put in a dumb spot, way too high so much so that the O2 contacts the heat shield in the tunnel. I called them about it and they said my motor mounts were sagging some. The phone help was very friendly and they did a great job talking over my concerns. But if the headers were to be improved they would slightly lower the O2 bung on the passenger side so it can be mounted without any modifications to the tunnel heat shield.

The passenger side header also contacts the bell housing ever so slightly, but it really doesn't rattle. I will have to pay to get some added clearance and that's annoying.

Also the passenger side exhaust pipe going to the flange is touching the car.

I played with where I could adjust and the two points where it contacts don't seem to have any way to be moved away.

Final impressions:

Generally pretty good aside from the O2 bung. I think in the end I will be happy with them but I think the O2 added far too much in the way of time to the install. Having to have an exhaust shop adjust the system is also annoying. I wonder if TSP would pay the bill to get the system to fit right? Not gonna hold my breath.

I would buy them again, but I would also seriously consider buying some LG Streets instead.

Take it for what it's worth. It's my experience and that's all I can say. This is my fourth pair of headers and I think in comparison to the f-body systems I had, this one fits far better and the annoyances are far more minor. Just the install was my major complaint so far.

You must of installed the original version, as they have a redesigned version that now corrects the O2 bung placement fiasco.

I had to cut out a piece of my tunnel plate to fit my O2's.

If they sold me an old version of the headers I would certainly be pissed, these are only a week old :P

ditto on mine. O2 bung makes sensor a tight fit against the tunnel plate, some difficulty attaching AIR system on passenger side, some rattling underneath where there's contact that I haven't solved yet. Very good price, nice power and sound.

Just installed mine and love em.....no rattles . my torque jumped from 400 to 445 on a 100 dry shot.....My first header install and was easy except for the driver side.....put them both in from the top... Had to cut a hole in the tunnel plate but no big deal......tuner deleted the air pump......

Can you use rear O2 sensors in the front to add clearance? I understand they are shorter than the fronts and give some extra room to keep from hitting the plate. Tom

You can, but you would need an adapter since they plug in to different style of plugs. I don't know why they went that route instead of having them the same like on f-bodies.

The only thing I think that's gonna bother me is a slight amount of exhaust getting through the clamps that you can hear under you. That's a little annoying but I am not sure I want to have it welded.

Check this out, this guy had to do the same, some say the problem is not fixed. Hmmm...
