I have not read about this problem on any of the traction control or active handling threads so hope somebody out there can help me with this problem. Three days ago while driving my 2004 ZO6 down the road the traction control and active handling lights came on along with the service engine soon banner. I have a friend with a tech 2 we hooked it up to the car tried to connect to the TCM and recevied a no communication message. Can anyone give me a direction to go with this I don't have a clue and don't want to take the car to the dealer.
I have checked the engine compartment grounds and all the fuses.
Did your friend connect the Tech2 directly to the EBCM to see if the EBCM is powered up ?? You need a pin-out box and cable adapter to do this.
Have you checked the connections where the wiring is attached to the EBCM ??
Have you dumped DTC data to see why the "SES" light is on ??? That would come from the PCM and might point toward where the problem is.
Had you done any work on the car prior to this happening ??? If so, what did you do ?? (Gee, a friend was "visiting" and they just "happened" to have a Tech2 on them .... yeah .... rigggghhhhhtttttt .....)
You can display the DTC info on your DIC, you don't need a scanner to do it. Go here if you don't know how ......
I did not say that a friend was visiting went to his shop and we hooked up the tech-2. I have disconnected the EBCM connector cleaned and used di-electric grease on the terminals. Disconnected the battery and was able to get a code P0856 same results on the TCM no communication. The week before I did flush the brake fluid new pads and rotors. Had driven the car about 50+ miles before this all happened.
I feel your pain and frustration since I just got out of a major electrical problem that hounded me for months (ABS+TCS+HVAC no comm.) before reading this post ..
Cost me 2 hours and $0 to fix. It may not apply to your problem but worth reading. Visit the dealership only for diagnostics (as a last resort). Once you know the problem, you will be able to fix it yourself. Good luck and do post your success story
Frist let me say thank you to all that responed to my post. Problem is fix on my car stole the EBCM off my son's car cleared the codes and we are good to go. Would not think that you would fry an EBCM just driving down the road, live and learn. Will send my EBCM off to absfixer and get it repaired. My son and I are in the process of installing a supercharger on his car so it is out of commission for a couple of weeks anyway.
