Over the past year I have been having problems with my blinker not working. The blinker lights on the dash dont light up nor do the blinkers on the car flash ... doesnt matter if in left or right position either ... ignition cycle does not fix. Kinda dangerous. Its weird though that within a few minutes they usually start to work on the same ignition cycle. The blinker handle does seems to feel a little strange too when it does this like as if it did not fully "click" into place to make contact or whatever ... if that makes any sense ... aybe its just messin with my brain as I dont hear the click of the blinker. Anyone else had this ... I did a search and nothing it seems ??? Again, just kinda dangerous but yet it works 99% of the time so kinda torn what to do and it is obviously hard to get it to repeat ... I thought it would likely either fix itself or fail all together. Maybe another weird grounding issue ???
The hazard switch is bad. Here's a DYI fix that works pretty well. The dealer will gouge you as they want to remove the dash to fix it, not necessary as you'll see from this thread. Very common issue with these cars.
I'm on my second replacement flasher. Car had a bad flasher when I bought it. The first replacement failed within 9 months. The second seems to be doing alright, so far. It's been about 9 months on this one, so far. These things are made in England and are total pieces of crap as far as I'm concerned. I'd hate to be the guy maintaining an entire car made over there!
You must not have searched correctly. There must be a hundred threads about the hazard flasher causing the turn signals to be intermittent or not work. You can push it off and on several times rapidly and it will clean the contacts enough to work, usually.
screw the stock switch. get a bypass harness and plug in an electronic flasher and you'll never have this problem again.
Awesome! I didn't see that other thread until I searched for it! That's a really great solution to a really annoying problem! Next time my flasher kicks it, I'm ordering one for sure!
