I just bought a camcorder, mainly for recording on track time at track events.
The only product for mounting a camcorder is via a seat belt harness bar or roll bar. These products are quite pricey (bar is more than camcorder) and I've seen some creative home fabrication of mounts.
Anyone got any ideas?
I remember one that wrapped a towel around the bar above the glove box, but it also blocked the airbag. Not good for passengers/students if the bag deploys!
I've got an idea but would like to get other ideas/solutions too.
I have an I-O Port Camera mount on a roll bar behind my passenger seat. You can get these for $100. They Bolt on and work well. The Camera mount on a harness bar works well too. The best thing is to have a remote to run the camera so you dont have to break your back while trying to start the camera at the right times. Image stabilization for the camera is a big plus too. I have also found that if I reposition my rear view mirror I can get a shot of the rear view while I am filming out the front of the car. One day I would like to have 2 cameras mounted in the car... one facing forward and the other to the rear.
 Hope all this helps you out!! :)
