Default Couple of problems

Recently I have had two problems with my 97 come up. I was wondering if any of you had these in the past and what you did to fix them or what you might think they are.

#1 While I am driving at random times I will hear a clicking sound that sounds just like the turn signals clicking and it comes from the center of the dash just like it does when I turn on the signals. The arrows on the dash do not light up and the actual turn signal lamps do not flash but this sound will continue until I pull down slightly on the turn signal stalk and then it will usually stop, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for the rest of the day. The "clicking" sound will be slow sometimes and very fast sometimes but the turn signals never flash.

#2 Three times this Spring when I hit a pretty big bump in the road, the service ABS and service Traction Control lights will come on. They will stay on until I turn off the car. I then turn the car back on and they are gone. This does not always happen when I hit a bump in the road and the severity of the bump does not seem to have any effect on it.

I am thinking the turn signal switch is bad for #1 and perhaps a bad ground on #2? Any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated.

I tend to think that your headlamp multifunction switch does indeed need to be replaced. As for the second problem, I'm thinking the steering wheel position sensor which is located at the base of the steering wheel at the inside firewall. I suspect that because I had the same thing happen to my '99. Pull the codes and post them as they will probably tell the tale.

Definitley post your codes. I had the exact same problem for #2 the whole first year I drove it. When installing a cam I found a loose pin in a connector for the front right wheel speed sensor. When I hit a bump of the right kind the pin would get jared loose for a second, loose connection and turn the lights on. I replaced the pin have not had any issues in the last 1 1/2 years. GL and don't forget to post your codes.
