Default Vette Essentials vs. Redlinegoods shift boots

I'm looking to get a new shift boot to replace my old vinyl piece of junk and also mate up to a C6 shift **** in my C5.

It looks like Vette Essentials and Redlinegoods both make boots.

Redlinegoods specifically says that it is genuine leather and not vinyl.
http://www.redlinegoods.com/C5shiftboot.shtm#c6shifter

Vette Essentials also makes a boot:
http://www.vetteessentials.com/inter...ucts/shift.htm

Both are forum supporters.

Does anyone have feedback on which one is nicer for fit and finish? I'm just going with stock black, so no fancy colors.

Thanks

I can only comment on the Vette Essentials. Their products are excellent quality and the leather is very heavy. Hopefully others can provide you feedback on the Redlinegoods products.

I got the Redline shift boot, and e-brake handle, and console cover in a very reasonable package price about 1.5 years ago. Very happy with their looks, and construction, which, BTW, is genuine leather.

We went with the Redline Goods - both boots and a console cover and love it. Redline has an option for a C5 w/C6 shifter. Here is a pic of ours...

I think we paid $115 shipped.

Happy enough with Redline that we ordered the same pieces for our Prelude. Had to send them the stock rubber arm rest cover to make a leather copy as they did not make one yet.

The redline goods leather is a great product at a reasonable price.

You may pay a tad more for VE stuff but I'm sure you'd not be disappointed with the quality.

I've seen both and Vette essentials wins hands down.In fact I have
a shift boot and e-brake boot from redline although the leather is
decent if you want MY as a color forget it their's doesn't match,I had
them in my car for 2-days and had to take them out because
I couldn't look at them anymore.

Other than that the quality seems alright for the price.

In fact- I ordered an MN6 boot that had to be specially made made for me (Firethorn Red\Black two tone). All this a few days before Christmas and arrived shortly there after...

It was for a C5 with a C6 shifter installed...absolutely the best quality...next is my E-Brake boot...

VE and Matt are the best!

Thanks for all the responses and pics, guys. Looks like it is still about 50/50, but the good news is that it sounds like neither will disappoint.

Red Line! I love their stuff. They will do whatever you want hands down, and at a great price!

Good luck

I just bought the complete leather interior kit from GS Creations. They sell on their website and also the same kit and the same company for a little cheaper on ebay. I haven't received it yet, but that could be another option...

I know that a lot of people love Redline but I would stay away from their shift boot. Mine came pre-cut for the fit but when I put it on, it didn't even come close to fitting without cutting it some more. As luck would have it, it never fit right and looked like crap

I emailed them and never heard back. Just my 2 cents

Do both boots come as a complete boot, or is some assembly required? ie... Do I have to attach the leather to the plastic ring on the bottom, or does it come complete and all I have to do is install it?

I had to attach my ring to the boot, wasn't hard and even went to the length to glue and rivet it on, don't want any coming up.

I have the C6Z06 shifter installed and had mine cut specifically for a C5 with that mod.

Hrm... my ring is junk, so I may have to see about fabricating one or buying another stock boot to canibalize...

Good quality for a good price and some subtle combinations and finishes.

You wouldn't be disappointed with VE though. Great quality although a little more expensive.
