After checking battery wires & replacing the battery, my 04 still would not start.....had it sent to the local dealer....apparantly it needs a new ignition module. Seems they have to go in through the steering column and then reprogram all the ignition stuff. Including the tow, I'm looking at $600. Does this seem correct?

Maybe for the dealer than $600 seems right. I had the same problem with my 2000 Camaro. I had the whole ignition module replaced and a set of 2 new ignition keys, installed done for $250 at a local shop.
My vette wouldn't start and it turned out to be the head ground wire. I had to find it myself though, as the dealer grease monkeys showed only incompetence when I took my car to them.
An "ignition module" on the steering column ????? "Reprogram the ignition stuff" ???? Be sure they replace your muffler bearings and check your blinker fluid level, it's the least they can do for $600.00
Hopefully someone down around Cinci will see this post and recommend a facility to you.. Your dealer almost sounds like they're talking about the ignition switch which shouldn't be anywhere near a $600 item
HOLY CRAP! Ignition module?????????????????? We dont have ignition modules. Are you SURE your saying the exact same thing they ststed?? If so, the person who told you that hasnt a clue.
