Default Driver's window rattle -

I did perform a search on this and it has been kicked to death but my window rattles pretty bad when the window is let down from the seal at the top. Half way down I can move the window side to side probably a 1/4". The seaches I came across was for adjusting the tilt of the window.

How does one adjust this to "tighten" up the window. I do not have a problem with sealing it just loose when down.

Thanks

Remove the door panel and then check (or retighten) the bolts that "clamp" the window glass in place. While you're in there, check to see that the rubber condoms at the bottom of the window track (they attach to the base of the door) have not popped off (mine did).

Sounds like you just need to buy a new window felt for the door panel

An easy thing to check would be to remove the reflector in the door by prying it with a small flathead from the bottom center. Once that is removed you'll see a stud that should have a nut on it. If the nut isn't there it probably fell off causing your problem. If it fell off as was my case it is directly under the stud. Put the nut back on or tighten it to see if this might correct the issue without needing to pull a bunch of stuff apart. Takes 5 mins max.

A new regulator fixed that problem for me.

It is possible that the plastic guides on the window regulator rails have worn, or maybe even have fallen out. The glass should fit tight against the outer weatherstrip on the door, and ride against it even with the window all the way down.

If your talking about the window moving front to back, that's most likely the window clamps.

If your talking about the moving towards and away from the car it's most likely a loose front adjuster screw.

OPen the door and look underneath it. you will see a small rubber seal about the size of a matchbook. remove that and you'll see the screw and bolt.

The bolt is most likely loose. Move the bolt to the outside and tighen it. I believe it's a 10mm nut.

Hope this helps.

That is exactly what it was. I had previously taken the rubber boot off towards the back of the car and didn't see the front one. Once I took the boot off the nut was laying there. The car is an 04 with only 8,500 miles on it. Anyone ever put a little blue permatex on it to hold it?

Thanks for the help. Feel like an idiot asking some of these questions as I have had the car only 3 1/2 months.
