I have a 2001 zo6
I just fixed the dim light in the a/c box.
It been out for about 2 years but it was working fine. Yesterday I noticed the a/c wasn't staying on, so I broke down and fixed it, and now the ext temp stays on 69 degrees and my a/c light comes on for about 3 seconds and go out. Is the computer thinking that it's 69 degrees out and it doesn't need the a/c? Is their any other post out their I have the one on the dim light.
Default failure for the external temp sensor is 69 degrees. The system believes the temp is 69 degrees. Check the sensor. When mine failed this way I found the tip of the sensor was broken off.

p/n 10248414 About $10 at the dealer. Mine stuck on 34 a few weeks back. Hope that's your problem. Very simple to change.
Well, I went to was the car, and fired it up and now it says -34 degrees. later it went back to 69. Where is the sensor and is it a part that most parts houses would have?
It's a pretty standard part for GMs. Look under the front of the car on the passenger side, at the end of the radiator. It's mounted to the top of the frame with a plastic push pin, and sticks out into the radiator airflow. It's about the size of a pencil and black in color. You can remove the pin and sensor by reaching down beside your headlight to the frame. There's enough slack in the wire to get the plug undone fairly easy.
p.s. After you change it, the car won't recognize it until you drive a mile or so, per the service manual. It took about 1/2 mile before mine reset and started working.

Two days ago I had unhooked my horn and I must have unhooked the connector so Ii plugged it back in and the display still says 69. Is their a reset function? I dont think the sensor would go bad by being unhooked would it.
I believe you have to drive a minimum distance after changing or disconnecting the sensor, for it to reset. You can also pull the fuse in the passenger footwell, I think it's #27. Wait 60 seconds and put the fuse back in. That will make the HVAC reset itself.
Well you know your stuff! The a/c light still goes off after 4 seconds. I didn't drive the car would that help.
I'm driving 531 miles tomorrow and I really need some A/C
Your A/C shutting off ( I assume you mean the compressor is disconnecting ) after 4 seconds is a different problem .... even if it mistakenly thinks it is 69 outside ....
Have you displayed your DTC data to see if he HVAC is posting a problem ??? That's what I would do.
A/C Still on the blink Had to drive across Texas With Window down
The controller is working now but the A/c light comes on for 4 seconds and go out The compressor in not coming on. Could it be low on juice? If so how could I tell With out hooking up gauges. PS their Is no codes thrown on the HVAC. I will take all advice good or bad

You say the "controller is now working" ... does that mean that it is displaying the correct outside temperature ???
What is the outside temperature ???
If the A/C is shutting off after a few seconds ... the car almost has to be posting a DTC. Possibly you are only looking at HVAC DTC's ??? The PCM controls the A/C compressor (the HVAC "requests" the PCM to bring the compressor on line ... it is the PCM that actually controls the compressor clutch) and it may be throwing a code indicating why it won't let the compressor stay on line. Follow these directions to display the codes and list ALL the codes (except any that start with "U") that are displayed ......
You May want to read ALL of this from another post similar to yours...
That would be a faulty outside air temp sensor.
It is less than $10 from the dealer and just plugs in.
The sensor is located on the right (passenger) side of the car, on the outside of the frame rail in the very front by the headlight.
It is held onto the mounting hole on the frame by a plastic push-in clip.
Just pull the clip out of the hole on the frame, release the plug for the wire (the plug has a release clip, pry up on the clip and the plug will release).
Then just put in the new one and you will be in business - it takes a few minutes of driving for the sensor to start reading the outside temp - you have to be moving in my experience.
The sensors are either resistance temperature detectors (RTD's) or Thermistors. The resistance of the sensor changes with the temperature.
If you have any corrosion in any of the associated connectors. it will increase the resistance that the climate controls is reading.
The resistance across the two sensor wires could be almost infinity,
in that case your display would read a low temp.
This just happened to mine last week. My temp sensor was registering -38*F (in TX).
I bought the new sensor ($10.82 with tax) but found that the old sensor had corroded and the pins broke off in the connector.
Once I had removed the old sensor the HVAC defaulted to 69* and will let the AC turn on now. Now I just need to splice in a new connector.
At the first sign of trouble I found that I had unhooked the sensor under the hood. I plugged it back in and the temp stared working correctly. The reason It came unhooked was I Had the front nose piece replaced and I think It didn't get hooked back at the body shop. I was hooking up my horn when i must have hit the wire. The A/C started acting up the next day. My question is If the sensor is bad wouldn't still read a false reading? Or do they go out with no warning. I will write down all the codes and post them later. I have some other issues with some other codes. so I'm not sure if some of them are for the a/c or the active handling. Their was no codes in the HVAC area.
all your codes are History codes (H) except P1546 C<<<which means "current"...here's what it is:
DTC P1546 Air Conditioning (A/C) Clutch Feedback Circuit Low Voltage
