With the stock converter and gears and normal driving, you probably don't need an aftermarket cooler. If you autocross extensively or put in converter/gears, it would be a good idea to put a cooler in. I put in a B&M generic cooler I bought from Summit Racing and it dropped my temps down around 20 degrees (avg 180 in the summer).
I must not drive normal. Last night I was out having fun. The outside temp was 57F and my tranny went up to 225F. Guess I have a heavy foot and need a cooler. All that I've heard of is B&M. Time to buy one...

My exact same reasoning, I purchased it from Internet Racer's Supply Inc.. I never installed it, because I only race at the strip. Sold it to forum member at a loss, not required across the desert to Las Vegas. If you just want one, go with the one from B&M, only $43 and will do the job.

I also installed a B&M cooler, kept my trans temp about 250' while running on a road course with 90' outside temp. Without the cooler I would have hit redline trans temp (270') in just a few laps. Mine is mounted in front of the A/C condenser, passenger side near the bottom. Hose fittings face outboard, hoses go down and through the notch at the top of the spring loaded air dam (had to enlarge the notch a little). I needed extra hose for my installation, and the high temp (300' working temp)/ high pressure stuff was NOT available locally, although lots of parts monkeys tried to sell me stuff that was inferior. I finally ordered a roll of PermaCool hose from the Jegs cartalog. You want to keep the cooler that comes stock in the right radiator tank, so tap into the UPPER of the two trans lines that go in/out of the radiator. Check the trans fluid level when done. Then have fun! In cold wx, avoid hard acceleration until the trans temp is at least 100'. I may put a cover on my cooler for winter, so the fluid will warm up more rapidly.
