Default Tire Presure Sensor

I took my C5 out for a ride today first time since Nov. The tire pressures were fine but on the way back, I got an error message Service Tire Mon. System. I hit the reset and looked an the right rear said RR XXX. I let it sit for a few hours and drove around the block. Now it says RR___ no XXX. My question is the sensor dead or did it loose it's brain and needs to be reprogramed now that the RR___ is blank.

John

If only one corner is showing XXX then the sensor probably died. I see your car is a 98. Sensors only last about 10 years. If you look in the DIY section, there is a writeup on how to replace the batteries. Worth a shot since the 97-00 sensors are about $80 each.

Series I sensors, 1997-2000, usually last 7 years or 100,000 miles.

Series II sensors, 2001-2004, last about 10 years.
