I've replaced the springs on other Ls-1's but never the seats. I went to ls1howto.com Do you really just pull them off with plyers? I have the Patriot Duals ,(when they get here I ordered them a week ago today) that come with seats and seals FYI.
or maybe talking about the spring seat locators...the valve seats are what the valve seals to, and you would have to machine them out..totally opposite side of the head and alot more work!lol
Make sure you take all measurements and figure out your shims prior to installing the seal, because the seat and shims can't be removed once the seal is in place.
To the OP, some of the confusion may be -- on newer heads, spring seats and valve seals are one piece. Some kits and older (pre-2001?) heads have the seats and seals seperate, and the seal sits on top of the spring seat. You have to gently tap the seal down with the right size socket.
I did not tear up the newer style seat/seal combo, but the older style were torn up on removal.
