Hi there everyone. I am in the process of completely removing all speakers and head unit from my 1998 coupe. After removing the rear speakers and the door speakers I was wondering if there is anything else I will need to remove like amps, etc?
Also, can I use the stock wiring from the OEM speakers to run my new JL audio speakers? I noticed the stock speakers have a ton of wires running to them. How is this normally done by everyone that has done it?

I suggest you search around in the audio section as there is a ton of information posted about this topic. I have an 04 vert so am not positive everything is the same as your 98. The speaker amps are on board the front speakers, the rears have none. There is a wiring harness you can buy that will allow you to use the factory speaker wiring with your new HU.

The Door woofers are the only speakers with amps. If you remove the entire assembly, this will remove the amps.
I would advise NOT using the OEM wiring. Reason being is that it's usually thick stranded low gauge wire and doesn't conduct very well. If you plan to amp your system later on, it would make life easier not to have to re-wire everything. Don't let wiring be the weakest part of your system
