There are some Z06s that have been converted to autos , mainly by drag racers.
There is a guy on here (RoadRebel aka Dr. Phil) who had a Z06 up for sale with an auto. If you do a search on him in the c5 vettes for sale section you should find his post.
You can contact Rodney at RPM transmission (forum vendor) for details and cost to convert.
will the A4 bolt up/work with a C5 z06 motor? if so, anything special involved? wife cant drive a stick
Yes it will "bolt up", but there is more to the conversion than just bolting in the gearbox
* Your current PCM is not programmed to manage an automatic
* You don't have the wiring for controlling an automatic
* Your console needs modifying from a stick to an auto stick
* Your pedals need re-configuring (remove clutch pedal and master cyl - install larger "automatic" brake pedal)
Its a big job, but can be done. Talk to RPM first.
To clarify .... the automatic shift mechanism is different, including the Park/Neutral lockout for starting ... didn't mean the trim panels themselves ....

That's a whole different issue ......
Yes, the LS6 would pretty much be "plug and play" .....all of its sensors and other electrical connections are plug compatible. About the only "external" difference is the LS6 redline is 6500 RPM, you could either live with your PCCM's 6000 RPM redline, or re-program the PCM and realize the "tach" is gonna show you in the red .... won't hurt at all ... just pointing it out.

^^Why do you want to do that? If you just want more power why not simply do a heads/cam and other bolts on to current motor. You will have far more power than a stock Z06 motor.

Unless you were getting the Z06 engine for free and just had to pay labor, its probably cheaper to go to a local tuner and have them put in a mild h/c package.

doesnt that require me getting a new torque convertor too?

You don't need a new converter for a truly mild package. My car may have a mildish package, but it is also built for drag racing, so the converter and extra gearing is a "necessity".

^^If you don't go crazy your car should have fine street manners. It's all in the tune, which is why you need to be careful who you pick to tune the car.

If your C5 is a 2004 then you already have an LS6 lower end, all your lacking are the LS6 heads and LS6 cam, the Z06 also uses a different exhaust but you were curious about swapping engines not exhaust.
