Default A4 Fluid Lines - In and Out

I think I'm going to hang my tranny cooler in the rear and take the fluid off the return fitting to the tranny that returns from the radiator up front. What size are the fittings at the transmission? I'll take the line leading back into the tranny coming from the radiator and intercept it and put an Earls cooler I have in series and then plumb it back into the tranny. Which line is the return line to the tranny, the upper or lower?

Appreciate some help.

I believe that it flows to the tranny from the top of the rad and to the rad from the bottom line, but I'not postive..
I have one to install but my garage is like a deep freeze.

Thanks Ben but I'm looking for the lines in/out of the tranny itself, not on the front radiator end of the car. Anyone know??

My 2003 shop manual describes the LOWER fitting on the 4L60-E/4L65-E automatic transmission case as being the “cooler feed line”.

As I understand it, the lower fitting sends fluid out of the transmission to the cooler. Top most fitting on the transmission is the return line.

This section deals with flushing the cooling circuit. Quote: “……connect the oil cooler feed pipe to the bottom connector on the transmission.”

Thank you Timemender. I'll start with this. Hope to get more input. I started the hanger fab for the Earls today. Realize I need to take off the muff's to get at the connections so want to have all the parts at hand before I attempt.
