Just installed texas speed torque v2 cam tuner needs help
I just installed the cam and the tuner is not very familiar with the corvette he is ust to f body cars and we are having a hard time getting the car to idle well it goes up and down the clutch is in and hardly iddles .We have HP tunner and could use some help.
When you get on the gas hard id has a bad smell. what r we doing wrong.
The tuner is ust to drilling the t body on f bodys cars and i herd of horror stories about this .
Can some one shed some light on some of this i have hp tunner installed on my computer and can make the changes if someone can call roy 270 234 3676
I know but he is the only one close and does not want to rape the **** out of me on the cost i would do the crap my self but i dont have the experance nor the cable to do the tuning .I can do every thing els with these cars why is this so hard .i have found all the bat drains and all the hard crap. this should be simple.
You need to get the VE table right. Don't be surprised if you end up taking 25% out of the 400,800 rpm columns. You probably idle in the 55 kpa cell and when the rpms dip a little it drops in the 60-70 cells. If the values are too large you will run pig rich until fuel trims take over. That's usually too late and the car dies. Get your idle cell perfect and then blend the higher Kpa cells from there.
Go to http://www.hptuners.com/forum/index.php and ask over there.I installed my TSP cam and had to add timing in the idle timing tables(I am running about 23°of timing at idle)and had to run a cold start until warm and copy and paste into my idle air tables. My car idles great now!Russ K on there helped me a bunch!

Tuning idle for a vette is actually easier then a F-Body (IMO), no throttle body set screw to deal with, but if he usually drills TB's (which is not a good sign) he probably isnt doing much idle tuning anyways,
The table hes gonna need to get correct for it to idle is desired airflow, since we dont have the adjustable TB screw or an IAC valve, this table controls the pitch of the blade to give the engine the airflow it needs to idle.

Thanks! I could not think of the table and my laptop is at the shop.

I agree w/Mike. A few bucks saved by using a tuner who does not know the vettes is asking for a chit load of trouble in my opinion. One mistake can cost you an engine. Find a tuner who knows vettes!
If I was you I would have the guy tuning your car call Texas Speed direct and ask them about it while you were in the car and working on it. I'm sure they would be willing to help you out and since it is their cam they probably have pretty helpful tips Just my .02.
I agree the first place to start is a bit more idle rpm's, a little less timing in the idle rpm area and to perform a cold start idle scan and set the RAF. If the TPS is like 2% at idle, then the TB has probably already been drilled. Plug with a pop rivet and start over. zero throttle cracker tables as well. Also make sure your adaptive idle tables are enabled.
If you aren't going to find a tuner who is more experienced, then sign on to the HPTuners Forum and Russ K or EC Tune will help you through it, but you have to post Tunes and Conig files.
My old setup was comparable and you are welcome to a copy of the tune if you see fit. It's a 2004 but it might be a good starting point
