Another torque converter question.
I was wondering if it was really worth it to install a torque converter on a stock 98 A4 w/o changing stock gearing along with it. I am planning on doing the transgo shift kit and will have a custom cam installed shortly, thus my $$$ is running low. I am planning on 3.42's in the future, but don't want to add the tc if it is not gonna make a difference. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. :seeya

If you have 2.73 gears then I would do a tc and 3.42 at the same time. If you have 3.15 gears then you might want to consider keeping those and just putting in a tc. A tc on either 2.73 or 3.15 gears will really wake up a a4.

No, it is not! The labor for changing the T/C and the gear is almost the same. Do both at the same time and you will save. If necessary, save the cam for last, like me!

I agree with the above posts - but to clairfy this - If you have:
2.73 gears = YES wait for the 3.42 gears and the TC intalll @ the same time..
3.15 gears = Just get a hard hitting TC with a high efficiency and go have fun burning up tires on the streets...:yesnod:
