Can someone tell me what porting the trottlebody does for performance.
I have bottom breather, headers, X-pipe, and Bassani Exhaust.

The stock TB really isn't an inhibitor to flow. I'd say change your intake manifold to the new larger one (if your car isn't an 02 already), you'll get better gains.

Will putting the larger throttlebody on mess with the warranty?
How much does it cost, where can I order it.

thanks,

Smoothing out (removing rough spots and ridges) and polishing the TB, can be benneficial to minimize turbulance and enhance smooth laminar airflow.

We do have them (ported)

We really do not recommend them except on the most extreme engine combinations. We are selling them introductory for $129.95 (exchange). The stock TB is bored from the back forward. The factory leaves a half inch lip in front of the blades. What we do is bore that flush and then polish this inside to a mirror-like polish.
Thanks,

I have one, but can't really say it made any difference. I would probably spend the money on other mods.

Lingenfelter also discovered that milling down the cross shaft between the screws on the butterfly allows for more airflow and smoother airflow.

Last I checked MTI sells stock ported MAFs exchange for 99 bucks.

I installed one with similiar mods as you and couldn't tell the difference after install. I did put on a MAF Translator and adjusted in conjunction with an Ease Scan program. That made a SOTP difference. Never had it dynoed yet, so I can't claim a HP gain. Maybe with a heads/cam install, the throttle body will make a difference.

I ordered one from MTI online about 6 months ago, but they called me back and said they were not selling them anymore because of idle problems after porting.

Peach, I read about the problem you had over the PTB. :( I have a PTB on my car and it runs fine.

Many people don't want to hear this, but the stock TB is fine the way it is.

Prior to doing my Heads&Cam and all the other mods to go with it, I was told by two of the most reputable tuners with the fastest cars posted on this forum, that the stock TB flows fine even with stage II H&C. So if you are really concerned about it I would ask the people tuning the cars...this is just what they passed on to me. The $150 for the PTB was not the issue it was based on necessity.

Yup! I agree! That is why I stated in my post that I really do not recommend them except on the most extreme cases. A stage II heads and cam package is not extreme in my eyes. This TB might give you something to grow into but most people really do not need it. Now if they request it, I warn them and they still want it... :)

Halltec sells a ported and POLISHED one that looks great even if it adds nothing to the performance of my H/C car.

I think they go for $279

Thats cool Chris I bought parts from you too (SPEC) clutch. Most the people with the 422's or SC/TT are using a PTB. I don't consider my H&C extreme but it sure is better than stock anything! That magnusson s/c is starting to look extreme and mean.

That is going to be a nice piece! I can't wait to get one over here. The only thing I wish they would have done is keep it under the hood. Although we are putting a RK sports hood on a car in a few weeks and they look great anyway, I guess it is not that bad. :)
JW's hood is a prime example. It is subtle but still adds a very nice touch to the car.
