This might be a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. I just had The Vette Doctors install their Stage 2 Heads and cam package.(Awsome job). What does it entail to have the Magnuson supercharger installed. Can I use the new heads and cam? Is it worth installing the supercharger? I had the Z06 manifold installed w/ the head and cam package. Damn I wish I was a motorhead. Thanx Bob
Bob,
I think you might have a problem. Most people that machine the heads do an .030 cut on them and that will raise your compression. Not really a problem on your setup but it is not what you want on a supercharged motor. The cam is also the "heart" of any motor and it needs to be matched to a specific application. Although the Magneson supercharger is a low boost setup it is not aftercooled and it will be pumpung hot air into the motor. I am still not convinced that this setup will not loose horswpower under higher outside temps.

Tom, I hope they ge these questions answered soon. I have the Cartek stg 2 set up. I also am thinking about the Magnason SC on top of this.
You may want to check out the Procharger. Your h/c and cam will work fine. The Magnuson is a good roots type blower, but will only support a limited amount of boost and hp. If you increase the boost on the Magnuson you will quickly detonate because the lobes will heat of the air greatly. To counteract this you would need an aftercooler, which usually sits under a roots blower, another 3 inches in height. A centrifugal blower(Procharger) is much more efficent and does not have nearly the amount of drag on the engine. It is also do heat the air up as much. It fits under the hood and comes with twin intercoolers. The Procharger 1DSC I think supports up to 950 horses at the crank.
