I'm far from being an expert on this subject, but I recall years ago reading that any material which gets by a "standard" oil filter is so small that it will not contact both the cylinder wall and piston ring at the same time. I realize that his is a generalization, and that under some circumstances this statement is wrong. But being so concerned about engine wear that we seek filters to trap single digit sized micron particles is perhaps overkill in the extreme.
A more cost effective, (and perhaps more effective overall) way to reduce engine wear is to minimize short trips. I was told by an Ag Engineer in college that starting a cold car and backing it out of the garage, then shutting it off, causes as much engine wear as driving 500 miles on the highway.
My recommendation for long engine life would be to use a good quality filter such as Wix, Napa Gold, or Purolator. Change your oil at least once per year or every 10,000 miles if using a good synthetic oil, and keep your short trips to a minimum.
But that's just my opinion. And just like belly buttons...

Wix filters are one of the best rated products. They are the same exact filters run in all NASCAR race cars. NAPA Gold filters are the same ones made by Wix.
FYI Be careful with that K&N filter, especially if you're lowered or plan on it. One guy knocked that nut off on a speed bump and dumped all his oil in front of a busy mall!
Call some of the auto parts stores around your area and see if they carry them. Also, as others have said, the NAPA Gold fiter is the same as the WIX. Most places in the country have a NAPA store close by.
Where does a fella get a wix oil filter? I haven't heard about mobile1 filters, are they any good?
Wix and AMSOIL partnered a few years ago when the EA Oil Filters were developed. As a result, WIX Filters (for just about any car) can be bought online via AMSOIL using the link to the left or in the info in my sig.

I almost had the same thing happen to me. I had a K&N filter on a stock height C5. When changing the oil at the next interval, I noticed the nut fixture was scraped and dented. No more K&N's for me.
I once tried the Fram Ultraguard on a vehicle I owned and noticed a definete decrease in oil pressure. Replaced it with an AC and oil pressure was back up. I now use either the AC or NAPA/Wix filters.
I just use a cheap Fram and when it gets dirty I clean it out with BraKleen and put it back on. I run the old oil through some old pantyhose and put it back in the engine.
15,000 miles and she smokes like hell and has one hell of a rod knock, I cant figure out why?
