Default Unable to access diagnostics
I've used the diagnostic on my own 98, and my wife's 98, but I tried to show a friend how powerful this tool really is, and I can't seem to get the car to get into the diagnostic mode. I have no trouble getting mine to work, just not his. Is the procedure different to use on a 99? All of his buttons appear/feel like they're operating smoothly...

Also - he has a lot of "welcome" messages when he starts the car, how do I turn some of them off? Thanks for the help!

reset turns them off. Diagnostic mode won't work until you turn off "door ajar" SES,STCS "low coolant" and other DIC "welcome" messages

I read a post here the other day where the guy fixed it by pulling codes with the eng running. Might be worth a shot.
