Usually a tune is not necessary at all.. Most folks do have a tune done to achieve the full benefit of the LT's .. Engine may run a little smoother after the tune also

I had to get mine tuned because the car was running extremely lean and was causing a detnation under normal crusing speed which made is miss horribly.. I'm running an off road X pipe (no cats) So in the tune I had my o2 sensors deleted because I had a check engine light on. But for some reason even after the tune its still throughing the code for the o2's but the car run's alot better after the tune doesn't miss as bad anymore

The car will tend to run leaner with the addition of headers and air intake. I just started tuning mine and I noticed that I was 10-12%leaner when I added LT and a Air Intake.

The tune will also include....

- bumping the PE ratio
- disabling CAGS
- reducing torque management
- optimizing fan turn on temps
- Spark tuning/timing

Hello there fellow Ashburner!

I just got my longtubes put on last week and have been wondering the same thing. If you find a tuner that's good and local let me know. Maybe we can get a deal or something if we go together.

Spend $400 on HPtuners and a wideband and do it your self. It is a steep learning curve at first but you will learn a lot about your engine and you will have a tool that you can use to tune a couple of your friends cars also.

Purchase HP Tuners or EFI Live and learn how to use it... You will NOT be sorry! I'm sure that someone in your area can help you learn how to use the program and tune your own cars.
